Finally, if you are travelling on the German Autobahn for the first time, get aquainted with our special high-speed traffic rules! As a rule of thumb, a car may still 'hit your trunk' even if it has been a quarter km away only 3 secs ago! Also note that there is an obligation to move to the rhs lane whenever possible (Rechtsfahrgebot). Also avoid any form of coercion. Have fun over here, though.

Hi, not the first time though, but thanks for the reminder. I wish it worked the same here in Sweden, BUT here it is more like, the one who first get a lane is the owner of that side, and he wont move until it suits him.. :wimmer:

The noise could be a little frustrating for 4000 km on a week, with only the soft top on...

Dear Peter,
cannot really follow the discussion about hard- and softtop and noises.
I never used the hardtop since I bought the car and whenever there is no rain we even do not use the softtop up to a speed of 150 km/h. With side windows up and rear wind screen up it is fantastic driving and feeling the elements. Last year we passed Zwitserland during a heavy rain shower on the Highway with no chance to stop to close the roof. I was surprised that we really stayed dry inside while we drove along with a speed of 100 km/h.
That is what makes fun driving a roadster like the SL.
Which area of Austria you are aiming for or could Switserland be an option? They have wunderfull mountain passes there.
Trevligt resa!

Hi Tack för svaret
Never gone for such a long trip in my SL. Here in Sweden, the HT is only on in April and September! I just wanted the opinion about HT vs. ST for longer trips.
I am counting for good weather, so the HT will be in the garage and I'm getting a new soft top installed the week before the trip. Comparing to CLK for example, the noise is much higher in the SL…
I don’t know about the time for Switzerland, we only have 6 Days.
We have traveled through Switzerland before and it is indeed very beautiful, so it is absolutely an option.
